By Kristina Brand, Sr. Product Marketing Manager for OnCommand Management Software
As a storage administrator it’s something that you probably say or hear often, “I have too many point tools that I have to rely on, and not enough hours in the day to get everything done.” I’ve heard that a lot over the years, that’s why I’m excited that NetApp has just released OnCommand® API Services 1.0 RC1-to help alleviate some of the storage admin’s management headaches.
So what’s this new product all about?
OnCommand API Services is single consolidated consistent REST end point framework for customer and partners to integrate with NetApp Storage. OnCommand API Services expose REST APIs so that you can use third-party infrastructure monitoring tools to manage your NetApp storage. In this first release, you can integrate with OnCommand Unified Manager and Performance Manager, and actively monitor and report on your clustered Data ONTAP® environment through one tool. With OnCommand API Services, you now have a single endpoint across your data center, enabling data collection from multiple Unified Manager and Performance Manager servers managing one or more clusters.
Simplify and streamline storage management
OnCommand API Services let you integrate and retrieve NetApp storage information quickly and safely. You can retrieve an inventory along with operational state of storage objects in the entire data center. You can retrieve performance metrics from OnCommand Performance Manager and retrieve operational metrics such as capacity and utilization from OnCommand Unified Manager, and integrate this information within the management console of choice.
