Tech ONTAP Podcast - Episode 4

Melissa PalmerContainers, and Docker in particular, have taken the world by storm. Nearly everyone is interested in what they are, how they work, and where they can be applied for maximum benefit.  Virtualization pioneered datacenter consolidation and efficiency by reducing the number of physical servers needed to drive business forward. Containers are the next step, further increasing density, but also enhancing the application deployment paradigm and facilitating better application architectures through the use of microservices.

Today’s episode takes a deep dive exploring containers with our guest Melissa Palmer, Technical Marketing Engineer for the FlexPod team.  We talk with Melissa about what are containers, how they’re different than virtual machines, when to use them, and why to use them. If you are curious about microservices, persistent data for containers, or just want an overview of the container ecosystem, this is the episode for you!
